Why did eShare arrive at this decision?
Originally designed to meet the requirements of customers managing substantial data uploads into Trusted Shares, the eShare desktop clients have previously played an important role in our service offering. However, as part of our ongoing commitment to provide the best experience for users of the eShare web client – the Cloud Web Portal (CWP) – we’ve added to CWP robust support for resumable uploads. With nearly all users of our desktop clients having moved all of their Trusted Share interactions over to CWP, it is time for us to discontinue the desktop clients and focus on development resources on CWP.
At present, eShare is fully dedicated to the development and maintenance of the Cloud Web Portal (CWP). This strategic decision positions the Cloud Web Portal as the optimal choice for both our existing and new clients. The enhancements incorporated into the CWP ensure a seamless and robust user experience, eliminating the necessity for additional desktop applications.
How will users be impacted by this change?
To streamline our services and offer you the best possible experience, we have decided to discontinue support for the eShare desktop clients. Effective April 30, 2024, the desktop clients will no longer receive updates or maintenance support. However, the desktop clients will continue to function as they do now.
Existing users of the desktop client should immediately begin to interact with their Trusted Shares, including performing large and bulk file uploads, using CWP. Our support team is here to guide you through this transition. And if you find that CWP is not fully meeting your requirements, the support team can initiate an enhancement request on your behalf. We are confident that we have solutions for your most demaining use cases. You can reach them via support@eshare.com and https://support.e-share.us/.
Will administrators of eShare need to take any action?
No action is required on the part of eShare administrators. The desktop clients are no longer available for download from the eShare support site, and all users of the desktop clients have been separately provided this End-of-Life announcement by email.
